PEG-MGF side effects

Also known as: PEGylated mechano growth factor · Pegylated MGF · PEG MGF · Mechano growth factor pegylated

Updated 20 sources

7 side effects reported for PEG-MGF: 2 from studies and labels, 5 from users and guides. 2 come with the ways people manage them.

Side effects reported in studies and labels

Rates as each trial or label states them. A rate from one trial does not carry over to research-grade vials or other doses.

From trials and regulators2

Clinical studies and regulatory documents.

  • Immune reaction to the product (immunogenicity)

Flagged by FDA as a possibly significant risk for some routes, along with peptide impurities. FDA found no human exposure data

  • Growth-promoting (proliferative) concern

Theoretical, from MGF expression in cancer biology in preclinical work. No human data either way

Side effects users and guides report

From users and guides5

Community reports, competitor and vendor guides, media.

  • Injection-site irritation

The most logged side effect among 25 PeptIQ app users (5 logs). One guide estimates 10 to 30% and says PEGylated peptides may irritate a little more

    How people manage it

    • Rotate sites between belly, thigh and upper arm, per guides.
  • Headache

Anecdotal; one guide puts it at 1 to 10% and notes it is not systematically documented

  • Nausea

Mild, anecdotal; one guide puts it at 1 to 10%

  • Anti-PEG antibodies

Theoretical; one guide rates it under 1%. Seen with approved PEGylated drugs, and could cut effect or cause hypersensitivity with repeat use

  • Low blood sugar

Theoretical; one guide rates it under 1% and likely lower than with IGF-1

    How people manage it

    • Guides suggest checking fasting glucose at baseline and at 4 weeks.

Who should avoid it, and what not to combine

  • Active cancer or a history of cancerCondition

Guides list it as a do-not-use because MGF signals cells to multiply.

  • Pregnancy and breastfeedingCondition

    Never studied.

  • Past severe reaction to a PEGylated drugCondition

Anti-PEG antibodies may raise the risk of hypersensitivity.

  • InsulinSubstance

One guide flags a theoretical additive drop in blood sugar.

How much is known

Animal data only

No human study of PEG-MGF or plain MGF exists, and FDA found no human exposure data. The evidence is cell work on myoblasts, contested by a 2014 replication failure, plus mouse and sheep heart-injury studies of the MGF E-domain peptide, not PEG-MGF itself. Every dose on this page is a forum or guide convention.

PEG-MGF side effects questions

What are the side effects?

Injection-site irritation is the one people actually log. Guides also list occasional headache and nausea. FDA flags a possible immune reaction to the product, and guides add theoretical anti-PEG antibodies, low blood sugar and growth-promoting effects.
