How it is thought to work. MGF (IGF-1Ec in people, IGF-1Eb in rodents) is an IGF-1 isoform with its own E-domain tail. Young adults raised MGF mRNA in the thigh after heavy leg work; adults over 70 did not. In 2002 cell work the E-domain pushed myoblasts to multiply and held off differentiation through a receptor other than IGF-1R. A 2014 replication by two drug-company labs saw no effect on myoblasts or muscle stem cells at up to 500 ng/ml. PEG adds bulk to slow clearance.

Calculate with this peptideYour vial, your water, your dose: PEG-MGF in syringe units, with the math shown. From clinical trials and regulatory documents.
Flagged by FDA as a possibly significant risk for some routes, along with peptide impurities. FDA found no human exposure data
Theoretical, from MGF expression in cancer biology in preclinical work. No human data either way
From community reports and dosing guides. Not measured rates.
The most logged side effect among 25 PeptIQ app users (5 logs). One guide estimates 10 to 30% and says PEGylated peptides may irritate a little more
How people manage it
Anecdotal; one guide puts it at 1 to 10% and notes it is not systematically documented
Mild, anecdotal; one guide puts it at 1 to 10%
Theoretical; one guide rates it under 1%. Seen with approved PEGylated drugs, and could cut effect or cause hypersensitivity with repeat use
Theoretical; one guide rates it under 1% and likely lower than with IGF-1
How people manage it
Active cancer or a history of cancerCondition
Guides list it as a do-not-use because MGF signals cells to multiply.
Pregnancy and breastfeedingCondition
Never studied.
Past severe reaction to a PEGylated drugCondition
Anti-PEG antibodies may raise the risk of hypersensitivity.
InsulinSubstance
One guide flags a theoretical additive drop in blood sugar.
Freezer at -20 °C for long-term storage, up to 12 months per one guide, or the fridge short-term. Keep away from light.
Fridge at 2 to 8 °C; one guide gives a typical shelf life of 12 to 18 months.
Room temperature or fridge, protected from light, per one guide.
Fridge at 2 to 8 °C, use within 30 days. Never freeze.
Fridge at 2 to 8 °C, in-use window often 7 to 14 days depending on the product.
Fridge at 2 to 8 °C for 2 to 3 weeks; do not freeze. The same site's community page says 3 to 4 weeks.
Mixed with: Bacteriostatic water
Mixing. Swirl, never shake; the solution should be clear and colourless. With 2 mL in a 2 mg vial, a 200 mcg dose is 20 units on a U-100 syringe. 3 mL is the most a 2 mg vial holds and gives bigger, easier draws for daily dosing plans.
The most common growth-factor stack in community reports: PEG-MGF for satellite-cell signalling, IGF-1 LR3 for direct IGF-1 receptor action.
Paired with GH for a broader anabolic push, reported as common.
Injury recovery stack: PEG-MGF for muscle repair, BPC-157 for tissue healing. BPC-157 is also the second most co-logged peptide among PeptIQ app users (8 co-reports).
Added in the community injury protocol alongside or instead of BPC-157.
Plain MGF is the same peptide without the PEG chain. It lasts about 5 to 7 minutes, so it is injected daily near the muscle within 30 minutes of training, at 100 to 200 mcg.
No human study of PEG-MGF or plain MGF exists, and FDA found no human exposure data. The evidence is cell work on myoblasts, contested by a 2014 replication failure, plus mouse and sheep heart-injury studies of the MGF E-domain peptide, not PEG-MGF itself. Every dose on this page is a forum or guide convention.
An approval withdrawn, or removed from FDA's compounding lists.
Not FDA approved. PEG-MGF sits in FDA's table of substances once in 503A Category 2 whose nominations were withdrawn. FDA's summary says it has no human exposure data by any route and flags immunogenicity risk. Plain MGF is in 503A Category 3, nominated without adequate support.
WADA 2026 bans mechano growth factors (MGFs) at all times under S2.3, growth factors.
WADA: Prohibited
A PEGylated version of mechano growth factor, the E-domain end of an IGF-1 splice variant (IGF-1Ec) that muscle switches on after heavy loading or damage. The PEG chain is meant to keep it stable and in circulation longer. It is sold for research only.
Plain MGF is gone within minutes, so people inject it daily, right after training, near the muscle they want to target. PEG-MGF is designed to last longer and spread through the body, so protocols drop to 2 or 3 shots a week at any under-the-skin site. The trade-off guides mention: less local action.
Forum protocols use 200 to 400 mcg, 2 to 3 times a week, with beginners at 100 to 200 mcg. PeptIQ app users most often log 200 to 400 mcg per shot, with reports up to 600 mcg. Use the calculator to turn a dose into syringe units for your vial.
Most protocols inject after training, from within 30 minutes for shots under the skin to 4 to 8 hours for shots into the muscle. Some guides prefer rest days instead, to stay clear of the body's own MGF pulse after exercise. None of these timings has been tested.
Guides use 1, 2 or 3 mL of bacteriostatic water. At 2 mL the vial is 1 mg/mL, so 200 mcg is 20 units on a U-100 insulin syringe.
Nobody knows. A 2026 review of these peptides found no reported half-life for PEG-MGF. Guide figures run from several hours to about 1 day to about 5 days, and none cites a measurement. Plain MGF lasts minutes.
The evidence is split and all of it is preclinical. In 2002 cell work the MGF E-domain made myoblasts multiply, and E-domain peptide protected heart muscle after heart attacks in sheep and mice. In 2014, two drug-company labs tried to reproduce the muscle-cell effect with native and stabilized MGF peptide and found nothing at up to 500 ng/ml, which led them to question whether MGF has a physiological role at all.
None. ClinicalTrials.gov lists no PEG-MGF or MGF trial, a 2026 review found no peer-reviewed human study, and FDA says it has found no human exposure data by any route.
Faster recovery between sessions is the most common report. Muscle gains are described as modest and gradual over 6 to 10 weeks, people say it works better stacked with IGF-1 LR3 or GH, and many find little benefit from it alone. These are anecdotes, not trial results.
Injection-site irritation is the one people actually log. Guides also list occasional headache and nausea. FDA flags a possible immune reaction to the product, and guides add theoretical anti-PEG antibodies, low blood sugar and growth-promoting effects.
Forum tables run 8 to 16 weeks with about 4 weeks off. Most guides run 4 to 8 weeks, and community protocols 6 to 10.
Not always. A doping lab found that two black-market MGF products were an amidated MGF analogue, not human MGF. Another lab found MGF inside vials sold as follistatin 344. PEGylation also adds a manufacturing step that labels cannot show.
No. It is listed among bulk substances once in FDA's 503A Category 2 whose nominations were withdrawn, and FDA's summary notes no human exposure data. Plain MGF is in Category 3, nominated without adequate support.
Yes. WADA lists mechano growth factors under S2.3, banned in and out of competition.
It is the most common pairing in community reports, PEG-MGF for repair signalling and LR3 for direct IGF-1 receptor action. No study has tested the pair.
