How it is thought to work. Two Russian heptapeptides with the same Pro-Gly-Pro tail. Semax (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) is built from a piece of ACTH and is studied for BDNF and dopamine effects. Selank (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) is a tuftsin analog studied for anxiety and GABA-related genes. Both block enkephalin-degrading enzymes in vitro.

Mixing. Read the label for the mg of each peptide, not just the total: 10 mg vials are usually 5 + 5, 20 mg vials 10 + 10, and one 40 mg vial is 30 mg Selank with 10 mg Semax. No source we read gives a water volume for the 10 + 10 vial. Semax is light-sensitive, so keep the mixed vial dark.

Evidence and legal status

Evidence: no human trials

No trial has tested the combination. Each peptide has small Russian human studies of its own: Selank in anxiety, Semax mostly in stroke. One in vitro study found both inhibit enkephalin-degrading enzymes in human serum, Semax more strongly. Guides call the pairing convention, not proven synergy.

FDA and WADA

Not FDA approved

An approval withdrawn, or removed from FDA's compounding lists.

Neither peptide is FDA approved. FDA lists Selank acetate and Semax among bulk substances whose compounding nominations were withdrawn, citing possible immunogenicity and missing human safety data. In July 2026 an advisory panel voted 8 to 5 to recommend Semax for the 503A list; FDA staff said the criteria weigh against it, and the vote is not binding.

Russia registers each peptide on its own as nasal drops (Selank 0.15%, Semax 0.1% and 1%); no registered product combines them. FDA's Semax briefing notes US websites selling a 50:50 Semax and Selank combination. WADA's 2026 Prohibited List names neither peptide. Its S0 class covers only substances with no government approval for human use, and both are registered in Russia, so S0 does not plainly apply; no source rules on either, so we mark it unknown.

Selank + Semax blend questions

Does 10 mg mean each peptide or the total?

Usually the total: a 10 mg vial is 5 mg Selank plus 5 mg Semax. Some vials hold 10 mg of each (20 mg total), and one 40 mg vial is 30 mg Selank with 10 mg Semax. Check the label for the mg of each.

Is the ratio always 1:1?

Most blends are 1:1. One seller also lists a Selank-heavy 3:1 vial (30 mg Selank, 10 mg Semax), so the same draw gives three times more Selank than Semax.

How much water goes in a 10 mg blend vial?

2 mL is common and gives 5 mg/mL; one guide uses 3 mL for about 3.33 mg/mL. A seller also lists 1 mL and 2.5 mL.

How many units is 500 mcg?

On a 10 mg vial with 2 mL of water, 500 mcg of blend is 10 units on a U-100 syringe, which is 250 mcg of each peptide. With 3 mL, one unit is about 33 mcg.

What dose of the blend do guides use?

Guides list 200 to 500 mcg of blend per dose, 1 to 2 times a day, and one runs 500 up to 1,200 mcg a day. These are guide conventions; no trial has dosed the pair.

Blend or two separate vials?

Separate vials are the standard in guides because the blend locks the ratio. Users who split their day, Semax in the morning and Selank later, need two vials. The blend is simpler when you want both at once.

Should I try each peptide alone first?

Many users and one guide say yes: start Selank alone for 5 to 7 days, then add Semax, so you know which one causes what.

When should I take it?

In the morning. Guides keep Semax before 2 PM to protect sleep, and every dose of the blend contains Semax.

Can it be used as a nasal spray?

Yes. Premixed sprays are sold, for example 50 mcg of each peptide per spray, used 1 to 2 sprays per nostril 1 to 2 times a day for 2 to 4 weeks.

How long does a mixed vial last?

About 28 days in the fridge at 2 to 8 C, kept dark. Do not freeze it once mixed.

How long do people run it?

Guides run 2 to 4 weeks then a break, or 4 to 8 week cycles. For separate vials one guide uses 4 weeks on and 4 off.

What side effects come up?

Mild headache is the most common, then sleep trouble if taken late, irritability at higher doses, nasal irritation by nose and redness by injection.

Has the combination been studied?

No clinical trial has tested Semax and Selank together. Each has small Russian human studies on its own. One lab study found both block the serum enzymes that break down enkephalins.

Can I take it with an antidepressant?

Guides urge caution with SSRIs, SNRIs and MAO inhibitors because both peptides touch serotonin. Ask your prescriber.

Is it FDA approved?

No. FDA lists both Selank acetate and Semax among compounding nominations that were withdrawn and flags possible immunogenicity. An FDA advisory panel voted 8 to 5 in July 2026 to recommend Semax for the 503A list; that vote is not binding. Selank was not on the agenda.
