How it is thought to work. Epitalon is said to act on the pineal gland and restore the nightly rise in melatonin, which in human data happened mainly in people whose output started low. In cell cultures it switched on telomerase and lengthened telomeres. It was designed from the amino acid makeup of epithalamin and later reported to occur in that extract. No human data shows how it is absorbed, cleared or how long it lasts.

Active or recent cancerCondition
Listed by most guides. A 2025 cell study found epitalon lengthened telomeres in breast cancer lines, and advisory committee members cited a possible carcinogenicity risk. In mice it cut leukemia without changing total tumors, so the risk is theoretical.
Pregnancy or breastfeedingCondition
Commonly listed contraindication; no safety data.

Melatonin and melatonin receptor drugsSubstance
One guide flags added sedation. Another suggests cutting supplemental melatonin by half during a course.
Tirzepatide in the same syringeSubstance
An r/Peptides user saw the mix turn cloudy when drawn together.
Guides disagree. Most say -20 C for long-term storage, dry and dark. Others give 2 to 8 C for 24 months or more, or 24 months at 2 to 8 C and 36 months at -20 C. One says room temperature or fridge, out of light.
Fridge at 2 to 8 C, never frozen, no freeze-thaw. Windows run from 1 to 2 weeks up to 30 days across guides, with 14 days the most conservative common figure. No stability data has been published. Discard if cloudy.
Mixed with: Bacteriostatic water
Mixing. 2 mL in a 10 mg vial (5 mg/mL) is the most common mix. At that strength a 5 mg dose fills a whole 1 mL syringe and a 10 mg vial lasts 2 days, so a 20-day course at 5 mg a day needs about 10 vials and 20 mL of water. Some posters mix stronger, such as 20 mg/mL, so bigger doses fit a small syringe.
The Khavinson pairing and the only combination with human outcome data: in a 266-person study, epithalamin plus thymalin went with 2.5-fold lower mortality, 4.1-fold when given yearly for 6 years. That used the extract, not synthetic epitalon.
NAD+ runs as an ongoing base with epitalon courses layered on top, started a couple of weeks apart. No trial has tested the pair.
Pitched as telomeres plus mitochondria: epitalon 5 mg a day for 10 days with MOTS-c 5 mg 3 times a week for 8 to 12 weeks, both in the morning.
Added for collagen and skin as a broad anti-aging pair.
The most common sleep partner on Reddit, for example epitalon 0.5 mg with pinealon 1 mg daily, or 1 mg with 2.5 mg nightly for 20 nights. One self-tracked user logged better sleep score, resting heart rate and HRV over 2 weeks.
Also run for sleep. One user on 300 mcg epitalon with 100 mcg DSIP saw no change at 2 weeks.
Part of longevity stacks posted on r/Peptides and r/Biohackers, often with NAD+ and MOTS-c.
TA-1 shows up in posted longevity stacks and for recovery.
Part of a posted anti-aging stack with TA-1 and SS-31.
Many posters run epitalon next to a GLP-1, often to fix sleep they blame on the GLP-1. Retatrutide is the compound most often co-logged with epitalon in one app's user logs (9), ahead of MOTS-c, GHK-Cu and NAD+ (8 each).

The crude bovine pineal extract epitalon was modeled on. A different product: most human outcome data, including mortality, and the 5 to 10 mg regimens come from it, not from epitalon.
Nearly all work comes from one Russian and Ukrainian network, and at least half of about 110 papers are in Russian only. Synthetic epitalon in humans: small melatonin biomarker studies and one eye study. Mortality data comes from the epithalamin extract in small, possibly overlapping studies. In mice, maximum lifespan rose 12.3% but mean lifespan did not change. No adequately powered randomized trial exists.
An approval withdrawn, or removed from FDA's compounding lists.
Not FDA approved. Removed from 503A Category 2 on April 15, 2026 because the nomination was withdrawn, which did not make it compoundable. In July 2026 an FDA advisory committee voted 7 to 5, with 1 abstention, to recommend it for the 503A bulks list for insomnia. The vote is non-binding and no final rule exists yet.
FDA staff opposed listing, citing no insomnia efficacy data, immunogenicity and impurities; FDA's safety page flags a possible immunogenicity risk from aggregation. WADA does not name epitalon, but its S0 class bans any substance without government approval for human use, so S0 likely applies. That is our inference. Epithalamin, the extract, is approved in Russia. Belgian regulators found epitalon in illegal preparations in 2015.
WADA: Not confirmed
It depends on whose numbers you use. Most guides say 5 to 10 mg a day by injection for 10 to 20 days. Sleep users on r/Peptides mostly run 100 to 500 mcg. The two human studies of synthetic epitalon used 0.01 mg a day by IM injection and 0.5 mg a day under the tongue. No human dose-finding study exists.
It appears to come from epithalamin, the bovine pineal extract epitalon was modeled on. Reviews of the Russian trials give epithalamin IM at 5 to 10 mg a day for 10 to 20 days, and one 3-year trial used 10 mg IM shots. The only published systemic doses of synthetic epitalon in humans are 0.01 mg IM and 0.5 mg under the tongue, roughly 10 to 1,000 times lower. Whether the extract figure transfers to the pure peptide has never been tested.
No, the 10 mg figure is real. A Russian speaker on r/Peptides posted the original paper showing 10 mg a day for 10 days by IM. The top replies point out that regimen was for epithalamin, the extract, not epitalon. A 2026 review agrees the human epitalon studies used far lower doses.
Reddit is split about 100-fold. One camp runs micrograms for sleep, often 100 to 500 mcg. The other runs 5 to 10 mg for longevity. Microgram users argue the synthetic peptide is more potent than the extract; milligram users answer that nobody has shown that. Neither side has a study behind its number.
10 to 20 days is the convention. Shorter courses use higher daily doses, such as 10 mg for 10 days against 5 mg for 20.
Guides say 1 to 3 times a year, with 3 to 6 or 4 to 6 months between courses. Some guides contradict themselves on this within the same page.
Evening is the default, chosen to line up with the nightly melatonin rhythm. It has never been tested head to head. A noticeable minority on r/Peptides dose in the morning because evening doses disrupt their sleep.
2 mL is most common and makes 5 mg/mL, so 5 mg is 100 units on a U-100 syringe. 1 mL makes 10 mg/mL. For a 50 mg vial, guides use 5 mL (10 mg/mL) or 2 mL (25 mg/mL). Use the calculator for any other mix.
More than people expect. At 5 mg a day, a 10 mg vial lasts 2 days, so a 20-day course needs about 10 vials. One guide points out that the popular 10 mg for 10 days table runs into the same vial problem. Over-buying is also common: r/PeptideGuide has posts from people who bought 10 vials when they needed 4.
Epitalon and epithalon are the same molecule spelled two ways, also called AEDG. Epithalamin is the different parent product: a crude extract of bovine pineal glands. Epitalon was designed from its amino acid makeup.
Not shown. Telomerase and telomere results come from cell cultures, including one independent 2025 study whose first three figures were later replaced. No human trial has measured telomeres before and after a course.
Sleep is the effect users report most. It is also where the best human data sits: night melatonin rose in older adults who started with low pineal output, and a melatonin marker rose about 1.7-fold in night-shift workers on 0.5 mg a day. That is a biomarker, not a sleep trial.
That is the most common report, per one guide. One r/Peptides user took 8 mg a day for 20 days and noticed nothing but the injections.
Mostly mild: site redness, sleepiness in the first days, vivid dreams and the odd headache. One app logs 155 user reports of site irritation, and an r/PeptideGuide user got headaches a couple of hours after 1 mg evening doses. Single users report feeling over-sedated at higher doses, sleep that shifts or breaks when dosing late, and a raised resting heart rate. Small human studies saw no clear adverse effects but tracked them poorly.
Unknown. In mice it went with fewer chromosome aberrations and less leukemia, without changing total tumors. But telomerase activation is a theoretical risk, a 2025 cell study saw telomeres lengthen in breast cancer lines, and FDA advisory committee members cited carcinogenicity.
Unproven. One guide says nasal takes 2 to 3 times the injected dose but gives no figure, and the epithalamin trials used 10 to 30 mg a day intranasally. One guide calls oral bioavailability essentially zero, though a human study used 0.5 mg under the tongue. Sprays are sold as 100 mg bottles without a stated strength.
Not approved, and not yet compoundable. FDA dropped it from Category 2 on April 15, 2026 after the nomination was withdrawn, which did not put it on the bulks list. In July 2026 an FDA advisory committee voted 7 to 5 to recommend it for insomnia, against staff advice. The vote is non-binding, and no final listing existed as of October 2026.
Not established. A 2026 review says absorption, clearance and half-life remain undefined. Guides contradict each other: one prints about 3 hours as an estimate, two say on the order of minutes without validation, and one says no figure has been published.
Guides range from 1 to 2 weeks up to 30 days in the fridge. None has stability data. Keep it at 2 to 8 C, never freeze it, and toss it if it turns cloudy.
